How Would You Like to Live Within Your Favourite Football Stadium?

Smoking Shelters, Glazed Canopies and Glass Verandas. Smoking Ban, Stylish Durable Structures, Manufacturing Technologies

Sustainable BuildingSouthend-on-Sea is to receive a 21,000 seat, purpose built stadium to be located at Fossetts Farm, Essex. The new stadium will have a larger capacity, and will be more suited to National League team Southend United’s needs. Excitement is building, but not only about the stadium, plans for the area also include 1,114 new homes. There will be 333 affordable homes, and the existing stadium at Roots Hall will be redeveloped to provide 502 rented homes.

Architectural designers Populous are the company chosen to create the new stadium with plans for a mixed-use stadium development. It will include a hotel and conference facility plus retail and commercial spaces. The area is expected to be popular as people generally like to be around anything football related, and training facilities will be in the vicinity. Market leading designers, Populous, are at the forefront of environmentally sustainable design solutions for public assembly venues.

The residential development plans are unique in that homes will actually be housed within the Southend FC stadium! This is pretty unusual as these type of houses are typically located in independent, separate buildings. The frontages of the residential properties will be visible at the North Stand, as well as conferencing and matchday hospitality spaces. The residential accommodation, designed by CZWG and LDA Design, will be set on top of the stadium.

Phase one of the development, will see the construction of the general admission areas of the new stadium, along with Supporters Way. This is a tree lined access route used by fans on match days. Phase one is expected to be completed by 2023. Phase two will encompass the completion of principal parts of the development and overall masterplan.

Sports clubs of all sizes are increasingly having to rethink how they operate, frequently moving towards a more business-focused approach. Facilities also require upgrading due to things like changing consumer demands, digitalisation of stadiums and modern construction methods.

Emerging into the Light

Event AssocOver the past few years, event planners have had to deliver their service using innovation and imagination. We’re of course talking about the effects of the pandemic, which has changed many aspects of our daily lives. Luckily, people in general are pretty adaptable when it comes to enforced transitions with regular schedules etc. In-person events are gradually returning, much to the relief of many. Progress has been slow and faltering, with the arrival of the Omicron variant just when we thought it was safe to come out. The appearance of this new variant prompted the vaccination program to accelerate in earnest.

Over 37 million booster vaccinations have been administered so far in the UK, although we still need to proceed with caution! There are continuing efforts to get things back on track with Chancellor Rishi Sunak announcing financial support packages. Businesses in the hospitality and leisure sectors, who have been impacted further by the Omicron variant will benefit from this. Restaurants and pubs are among businesses who can apply for grants of up to £6,000 for each of their premises.

Industry bodies campaigned for months, and succeeded in getting the UK government’s £750 million insurance scheme to begin. This helps event creators with costs incurred where an event has to be postponed or cancelled due to government restrictions. The insurance doesn’t cover things like lower ticket demand, venue capacity or self isolation issues though. This scheme runs until 30 September 2022.

Restrictions are continuing to ease throughout the UK, and although face masks are no longer mandatory, common sense is key. It’s still advisable to wear a face covering where there are crowds of people. Specialists like the team at Event Associates are raring to go, with concert, conference and exhibition organisation. They have been extremely busy over the various lockdowns, delivering virtual seminars and webinars, which have gone down really well! Find out more here.

Dumpers – A Great Tool Within Construction

Smoking Shelters, Glazed Canopies and Glass Verandas. Smoking Ban, Stylish Durable Structures, Manufacturing Technologies

Dumper HireThe dumper is one of the most used pieces of construction equipment in the UK, and can be seen at all but the smallest of projects. Hiring a dumper will pay for itself very quickly, due to time saved and faster job completion in Edgware. Apart from being physically demanding, work that involves lifting and carrying debris, soil etc requires more workers. This depends on the size of project, and speed of completion needed, but usually no less than two workers have to be employed. A dumper simply calls for one operator and materials can be transferred from A to B in no time.

Dumpers come in a range of sizes, and when brands like Thwaites are involved, you can be sure of a reliable hire. These dumpers have been developed for many years, resulting in the precision engineered products we have today. Rhinos Plant Hire choose their fleet machinery from manufacturers who have an outstanding record. They know that when companies and individuals hire from Rhinos, they are trusting them with their own reputations. This is why Rhinos are committed to getting it right every time with the plant machinery they offer.

Whether wheeled or tracked a dumper can perform exceptionally whatever the environment. They are capable of tipping tons of materials to the front or side giving them a versatile edge. Dumpers are perfect for tasks such as site preparation like clearing and levelling before major construction commences. They are extremely effective when used in conjunction with a mini digger for clearing trees, rubble, soil, turf and other debris.

In addition to removing waste, dumpers can often be used on-site to fill trenches during pipe laying. An initial layer may be dropped in from the dumper, which can then be levelled and compacted manually. A dumper can also be used to apply the top layer of gravel, soil etc. Dumpers are the ideal choice for a wide range of jobs within the construction sector, so why not take a look at the excellent range from Rhinos Palnt Hire?

How Will A Veranda Help Me Stay Safe?

Smoking Shelters, Glazed Canopies and Glass Verandas. Smoking Ban, Stylish Durable Structures, Manufacturing Technologies

TWS VerandasAs restrictions begin to ease, and life attempts to return to some kind of normal, there are still precautions which must be taken. As more and more people get their first and second doses of the Covid 19 vaccine, confidence grows and even socialising seems possible. We are all celebrating these positive stages and there are huge sighs of relief all round.

However! It’s important not to rush headlong into things, and to instead take the more sensible route. Over 31 million people have now had their first vaccine, and more than 5 million their second. This means that many are more or less protected from getting the virus, although they can still spread it. You can now gather in groups of up to six or two households, but only outside. Scientists and medics are adamant that there must be no groups of this sort meeting indoors. People must also resist the temptation to go indoors together should it rain etc.

It has been known all along that being out in the fresh air is safer with regards to the virus than being enclosed. Where it is unavoidable for others to be indoors together, every effort must be made to ventilate the area. Windows and doors should be opened during a visit from say, an emergency tradesman, as well as after they have left. Some medical specialists feel there has not been enough awareness made about the need for fresh air.

Research conducted in a South Korean restaurant showed that one diner infected two other diners, one of which was 4ft away and the other 6 foot. The three were only in the same room in the restaurant for a matter of minutes.

Many home and business owners are opting to have verandas installed, as a solution to staying comfortable and dry while gathering safely. This means you can socialise with your friends and loved ones whatever the weather. They can be fitted with heating and lighting for added convenience. Trade Window Services offer a popular range of high quality, bespoke verandas for every need.

We can all agree that everybody is different and has different tastes when it comes to most things such as the style of their home décor. Every now and again though, a product comes along that is so beautifully designed, that not many can resist. This has been the case with flush fitting windows by Liniar, which have taken the double glazing world by storm. These innovative windows offer two main types, the R9 which are flush on the outside and have a traditional interior, and the R7 which features a flush inner and outer.

These window systems have become incredibly popular, partly due to their chic and streamlined looks, which will enhance any property. Here are some of the other reasons that home owners are choosing Liniar flush fitting windows:-

  • Aesthetically pleasing – One of their stand out qualities is their unique look, with sleek, unobtrusive lines that leave other designs standing. They can be used with astragal Georgian bars for a stunning period look, or rock an ultimately contemporary feel. Either way they will provide an extremely impressive façade for any home.
  • Can be used in conservation areas – Flush fitting windows perfectly replicate the look and feel of timber, which is a requirement where conservation is a priority. Being available in a wide range of colours makes them exceptionally versatile. The fact that they can seamlessly create a traditional look while remaining maintenance free is a major advantage.
  • High performance windows – These bespoke windows feature some of the most advanced technology in the industry such as multi-chambered profiles for thermal efficiency and high performance double action gaskets. They have superior locking systems and excellent energy ratings up to WER A+14.
  • Lead free, recyclable systems – these windows are environmentally friendly, will help lower your fuel bills and will last many years.
  • Secured by Design – Liniar flush fitting windows have Secured by Design status, meaning they are a police preferred product. They are a great choice for your pocket, comfort and security.

Buildings in Need of TLC

Verandas, Sun Rooms, Multifunctional & Sophisticated Home Improvement, Essex

The fate of some listed buildings is to sit unused while slowly falling into disrepair and becoming little more than an eyesore. Their upkeep can be pretty costly, and typical problems with these older properties may include damp, floods due to leaking pipes, pests, rotting wooden frames and features, subsidence and crumbling plasterwork. Any repairs are tricky and usually require sourcing the original materials or their expensive alternatives. This takes the shine off what could be a beautiful, historic and irreplaceable reminder of the past.

Sometimes a charity or perhaps a company will step in and offer to restore the building, turning it into a busy and functional place once again. This is the case with a disused cinema building in Grays, Essex, which is set to become a Wetherspoons. The successful pub chain purchased the Grade 11 listed structure in 2015, although concerns were recently expressed as there has been no action as yet.

The local Gazette reported that the pub chain has confirmed it’s intentions to restore the building and open on the site. The company originally promised an investment of £3 million in its restoration, and Gazette readers were wondering if this was still the case. There were also fears that Historic England could be at the bottom of the hold up, but a spokesperson said “We have been involved in detailed, constructive pre-application discussions with the current owner of the Grade II* listed old State Cinema in Grays.“We expect a planning application for the building’s conversion to be submitted in the near future. We are keen to see the building brought back into use and will continue to work closely with all parties involved to secure its future.”

There is a definite move these days towards restoration and renovation rather than demolition wherever possible. This is a responsible and sustainable approach, favoured by many, especially those who wish to preserve the UK’s heritage.

Starting your own Business

Verandas, Sun Rooms, Multifunctional & Sophisticated Home Improvement, Home & Garden Living Space

If there is something you love doing like decorating, DIY, gardening, photography or organising events and parties, have you ever thought it turning it into a little money maker? Lots of people consider the exciting prospect of starting up their own business, but then often dismiss it as fantasy.

But you shouldn’t be put off by perceived barriers or thoughts of potential risks. In 2017, one in ten Brits intended to start their own business within the year, and various studies have indicated that the UK is becoming a nation of entrepreneurs. As one of the main reasons things don’t work out is failure to maintain a healthy cash flow, a detailed business plan along with monitoring your finances is crucial.

With so many people wishing to be their own boss, what are the important things to think about before getting down to the real nitty gritty. Have a go at constructing a business plan and writing it all down, with an emphasis on keeping costs low, and a view to testing your ideas first.

  1. Define your idea – what will be the nature of your business
  2. Decide on your goals – basically what do you want to achieve
  3. Do your research – is there a need for your product or service
  4. Outline your plan – step by step how do you plan to achieve your objectives
  5. Get it down – write out your ideas and proposals for starting and running your businesses

These simple tasks will help you to concentrate on the desired results and how to get them, of course it also helps if you have something people want to buy in the form of a product or service. For instance anybody can take a picture, but it takes a certain artistic eye to turn it into a work of art that people will pay for and hang in their home. Upgrade your Home with a Glazed Veranda

Verandas, Sun Rooms, Southend, Multifunctional & Sophisticated Home Improvement, Alfresco Lifestyle, Styles Traditional or Contemporary

Let’s face it, if you have a nice garden, and all the flowers are blooming you want to see it, and what better way than from the comfort of a professionally built veranda. These home additions are always ‘in vogue’, and are not only highly functional, attractive and practical, but will add value to your home should you eventually wish to sell. Glass verandas allow you to get the benefit of your garden all year round from gloriously warm summer to the cooler months. Other advantages of these versatile structures include:-

  • Verandas give more room and extend the size of your home
  • They do not block light from your home
  • You can heat and light them
  • Verandas do not require much, if any, maintenance
  • Outdoor parties are possible all year round
  • You can watch TV etc outdoors
  • They protect patio or garden furniture
  • Verandas allow plants and flowers to thrive under cover
  • They also double as smoking shelters

With this kind of garden upgrade you may even find you have less inclination to go away as much as you can get more enjoyment from your garden, meaning you save money. Entertaining outdoors is more fun with clear views of the garden, whether there is threat of rain or not. Or you can simply relax, watch the birds and bees, and feel at one with nature. This gives an air of peace and contentment which is medically proven to reduce anxiety and promote a feeling of well-being.

To enhance your garden in Southend for extra enjoyment, you can hire a range of high quality gardening and landscaping tools and equipment like lawn mowers, turf cutters, cultivators, strimmers, wood chippers and post borers to name just a few. After the hard work you can sit back with your tipple of choice and take in your new surroundings.

High Quality Glazing Products for your Home and Business

Smoking Shelters, Glazed Canopies and Glass Verandas. Smoking Ban, Stylish Durable Structures, Manufacturing Technologies

This is the perfect time of year to start thinking about getting your garden area ready for summer by rearranging plants and bushes, checking if furniture needs replacing, and painting or treating walls and fences. Home enhancing additions like sheds, gazebos are also considerations, and will prove extremely useful throughout the changing seasons whatever size or shape your garden is.

Many of our projects here at TWS Verandas now include the design and installation of high quality smoking shelters, as well as verandas, glazed canopies and sunrooms. We offer custom manufactured glazed products using the latest materials, designs and technology for perfect results. Our main aim is to provide our customers with a high quality product, professionally constructed and expertly installed if desired. We can do this thanks to using quality assured materials and by giving a vast choice of colours and glaze tints.

We have supplied a range of structures for commercial customers including smoking shelters, which are aesthetically pleasing as well as functional. Walkways between buildings are also a popular addition keeping staff comfortable not to mention dry! Providing this type of multifunctional facility enforces the fact that looking after the needs of employees is important to these companies.

These additions are good for business in a lot of cases too, especially with regards to glazed canopies above shop windows. These give some protection to the customer as well as the building from the elements, as they admire the goods on display.

Our verandas and sunrooms bring in lots of great feedback, as customers talk about ‘increased value of their home’, ‘getting more use out of their garden’, ‘being brighter than a conservatory or extension’ and ‘bringing the garden indoors’.

Customers can opt for installation by our qualified engineers, or we can simply supply the products in places like Romford, Wickford, Southend, Leigh on Sea and Billericay.
