Sustainable BuildingSouthend-on-Sea is to receive a 21,000 seat, purpose built stadium to be located at Fossetts Farm, Essex. The new stadium will have a larger capacity, and will be more suited to National League team Southend United’s needs. Excitement is building, but not only about the stadium, plans for the area also include 1,114 new homes. There will be 333 affordable homes, and the existing stadium at Roots Hall will be redeveloped to provide 502 rented homes.

Architectural designers Populous are the company chosen to create the new stadium with plans for a mixed-use stadium development. It will include a hotel and conference facility plus retail and commercial spaces. The area is expected to be popular as people generally like to be around anything football related, and training facilities will be in the vicinity. Market leading designers, Populous, are at the forefront of environmentally sustainable design solutions for public assembly venues.

The residential development plans are unique in that homes will actually be housed within the Southend FC stadium! This is pretty unusual as these type of houses are typically located in independent, separate buildings. The frontages of the residential properties will be visible at the North Stand, as well as conferencing and matchday hospitality spaces. The residential accommodation, designed by CZWG and LDA Design, will be set on top of the stadium.

Phase one of the development, will see the construction of the general admission areas of the new stadium, along with Supporters Way. This is a tree lined access route used by fans on match days. Phase one is expected to be completed by 2023. Phase two will encompass the completion of principal parts of the development and overall masterplan.

Sports clubs of all sizes are increasingly having to rethink how they operate, frequently moving towards a more business-focused approach. Facilities also require upgrading due to things like changing consumer demands, digitalisation of stadiums and modern construction methods.

Emerging into the Light

Event AssocOver the past few years, event planners have had to deliver their service using innovation and imagination. We’re of course talking about the effects of the pandemic, which has changed many aspects of our daily lives. Luckily, people in general are pretty adaptable when it comes to enforced transitions with regular schedules etc. In-person events are gradually returning, much to the relief of many. Progress has been slow and faltering, with the arrival of the Omicron variant just when we thought it was safe to come out. The appearance of this new variant prompted the vaccination program to accelerate in earnest.

Over 37 million booster vaccinations have been administered so far in the UK, although we still need to proceed with caution! There are continuing efforts to get things back on track with Chancellor Rishi Sunak announcing financial support packages. Businesses in the hospitality and leisure sectors, who have been impacted further by the Omicron variant will benefit from this. Restaurants and pubs are among businesses who can apply for grants of up to £6,000 for each of their premises.

Industry bodies campaigned for months, and succeeded in getting the UK government’s £750 million insurance scheme to begin. This helps event creators with costs incurred where an event has to be postponed or cancelled due to government restrictions. The insurance doesn’t cover things like lower ticket demand, venue capacity or self isolation issues though. This scheme runs until 30 September 2022.

Restrictions are continuing to ease throughout the UK, and although face masks are no longer mandatory, common sense is key. It’s still advisable to wear a face covering where there are crowds of people. Specialists like the team at Event Associates are raring to go, with concert, conference and exhibition organisation. They have been extremely busy over the various lockdowns, delivering virtual seminars and webinars, which have gone down really well! Find out more here.

Dumpers – A Great Tool Within Construction

Dumper HireThe dumper is one of the most used pieces of construction equipment in the UK, and can be seen at all but the smallest of projects. Hiring a dumper will pay for itself very quickly, due to time saved and faster job completion in Edgware. Apart from being physically demanding, work that involves lifting and carrying debris, soil etc requires more workers. This depends on the size of project, and speed of completion needed, but usually no less than two workers have to be employed. A dumper simply calls for one operator and materials can be transferred from A to B in no time.

Dumpers come in a range of sizes, and when brands like Thwaites are involved, you can be sure of a reliable hire. These dumpers have been developed for many years, resulting in the precision engineered products we have today. Rhinos Plant Hire choose their fleet machinery from manufacturers who have an outstanding record. They know that when companies and individuals hire from Rhinos, they are trusting them with their own reputations. This is why Rhinos are committed to getting it right every time with the plant machinery they offer.

Whether wheeled or tracked a dumper can perform exceptionally whatever the environment. They are capable of tipping tons of materials to the front or side giving them a versatile edge. Dumpers are perfect for tasks such as site preparation like clearing and levelling before major construction commences. They are extremely effective when used in conjunction with a mini digger for clearing trees, rubble, soil, turf and other debris.

In addition to removing waste, dumpers can often be used on-site to fill trenches during pipe laying. An initial layer may be dropped in from the dumper, which can then be levelled and compacted manually. A dumper can also be used to apply the top layer of gravel, soil etc. Dumpers are the ideal choice for a wide range of jobs within the construction sector, so why not take a look at the excellent range from Rhinos Palnt Hire?

How Will A Veranda Help Me Stay Safe?

Smoking Shelters, Glazed Canopies and Glass Verandas. Smoking Ban, Stylish Durable Structures, Manufacturing Technologies

TWS VerandasAs restrictions begin to ease, and life attempts to return to some kind of normal, there are still precautions which must be taken. As more and more people get their first and second doses of the Covid 19 vaccine, confidence grows and even socialising seems possible. We are all celebrating these positive stages and there are huge sighs of relief all round.

However! It’s important not to rush headlong into things, and to instead take the more sensible route. Over 31 million people have now had their first vaccine, and more than 5 million their second. This means that many are more or less protected from getting the virus, although they can still spread it. You can now gather in groups of up to six or two households, but only outside. Scientists and medics are adamant that there must be no groups of this sort meeting indoors. People must also resist the temptation to go indoors together should it rain etc.

It has been known all along that being out in the fresh air is safer with regards to the virus than being enclosed. Where it is unavoidable for others to be indoors together, every effort must be made to ventilate the area. Windows and doors should be opened during a visit from say, an emergency tradesman, as well as after they have left. Some medical specialists feel there has not been enough awareness made about the need for fresh air.

Research conducted in a South Korean restaurant showed that one diner infected two other diners, one of which was 4ft away and the other 6 foot. The three were only in the same room in the restaurant for a matter of minutes.

Many home and business owners are opting to have verandas installed, as a solution to staying comfortable and dry while gathering safely. This means you can socialise with your friends and loved ones whatever the weather. They can be fitted with heating and lighting for added convenience. Trade Window Services offer a popular range of high quality, bespoke verandas for every need.
